Mr. Larry G. Shriver, 78, of Rochester, was surrounded by his loving family when he  passed away at 11:58 PM, Monday, December 25, 2017 at his home.

In Fulton County, on June 4, 1939, Larry was born to Donald G. and Mary Corrine Tharp Shriver. Growing up he shared his childhood with two brothers, Steve and Ron.  He attended the Woodrow Elementary School and graduated with the Class of 1957 from Rochester High School.  During his high school years Larry was active in the Future farmers of America garnering impressive titles with the state and national soil judging teams.  True to his heart he still could recite the creed on command.  In 1961, he joined the US Navy and was honorably discharged in 1964.

Returning home from his stint with the Navy, Larry initiated his life long passion, farming.  He owned a fine herd of Black Angus and Crossbred cattle.  He annually planted corn and beans on board his John Deere tractor and at one time oversaw a farming operation of over 1000 acres.  Larry was accomplished as an equestrian, stabling riding horses for himself and the boys.

As a true American sportsman,  Larry lived off the land.  An avid hunter he bagged many foxes, rabbits, quail, pheasants and deer.  His meat preference was venison over beef. As a friend to animals, Larry once raised a baby coyote Lobo as a pet.

The patriarch of the Shriver family, Grandpa Larry was proud to oversee three generations.  He adored his grandchildren and looked forward to family celebrations and the holidays, an opportunity to make memories.

Larry is lovingly remembered by three sons: Daniel G. Shriver and companion Sandy Vedder, Donald R. Shriver and wife Bethany, of all of Rochester, and David A. Shriver and wife Cami of Akron; five Shriver grandchildren: Samantha, Jesse, Hunter, Delaney, and Tucker;  a brother, Stephen R. Shriver and wife Jane of Rochester; and several nieces and nephews.    Preceding Larry in death are his parents and a brother, Ronald G. Shriver.

Dr. Mark Spencer will officiate services. Interment will be in the Rochester IOOF Cemetery.  Military graveside rites will be accorded by the Fulton County Veteran's Honor Guard and the US Navy Honors Team.
