Kenneth Eugene Brown, 83, of Rochester, was surrounded by his loving family when he passed away at Hickory Creek of Rochester on Sunday, August 5th, 2012. Kenny was born in Miami County on November 28, 1928, the son of Robert Avert and Grace Margaret Garner Brown. Growing up as one of nine children Kenny shared his childhood with six brothers and two sisters. His family moved to Newcastle Township where they all enjoyed life on farm while raising beef cattle and the grain crops of corn, wheat and beans. Kenny was a member of the Talma High School class of 1946. Patriotism beckoned him and he answered the call, serving with the U.S. Marines. After returning from the service, Kenny's new ride was a 1952 shiny green De Soto. He worked for a number of years for McMahan - O'Connor Construction Company as a general contractor. He attended the Westside Apostolic Church, was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Lodge, ascending to the coveted Golden Eagle, was a life member of the Manitou V.F.W. Post #1343, and the LeRoy Shelton American Legion Post. To relax Kenny bowled on the Eagles Team at Quick's Lanes. He also played shuffleboard and competed with a traveling team from the V.F.W. Fishing was his forte' and the blue gills and bass of Mt. Zion beckoned him. He also looked forward to traveling to the lakes of Wisconsin. A man who enjoyed the simple things in life, Kenny looked forward to the holidays and spending time with his family. Kenny is lovingly remembered by his sister Grace Marie Miller, Rochester, and 2 brothers: Max Brown and his wife Deloris of Claypool, and John Brown and his wife Neva of Russell, Kentucky. Kenny was welcomed to heaven by his parents, 4 brothers: Bob, Joe, Lee and Ira; a sister Dorothy Bixler; 2 brother-in-laws: Al Miller and George Bixler; and a sister-in-law Bonnie Brown. Chaplain Jason See will officiate services. Burial will follow at the Crown Point Cemetery near Kokomo.
