Mr. Kaleb W. Hazlett, 27, formerly of Rochester, passed away on Wednesday, June 1 , 2022 in Greenwood.

On September 28 , 1994, Kaleb Wesley was born in Rochester to Kevin and Kim Cessna Hazlett. He graduated with the Rochester High School  Class of 2013.   Kaleb played at the catcher position during summer baseball league games.  On the swim team he swam in the relay events and the 50 Freestyle.

Prior to graduation, Kaleb joined the Indiana National Guard and later served our country as a member of the United States Army. He was in the combat infantry and the corps of engineering, serving in Kuwait, Afghanistan, Syria and Germany.  Sgt. Kaleb W. Hazlett was honorably discharged in 2019.

Music was important to Kaleb.  He often played his electric or acoustical guitar and loved going to concerts. His favorite artists were Janis Joplin, Blink 182, Kid Rock and Lynyrd Skynrd.  Reading was another pastime, he liked all genre, but topics of the psychological futurist was a recent interest. Video gaming and working out were also a vital part of Kaleb's day.

As an electrical apprentice, Kaleb worked at Ridgeline of Indianapolis. He was a member of the Manitou Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 1342 of Rochester.

Left to cherish  Kaleb's memory are his parents, Kim and Bruce Bowsher and Kevin and Laura Hazlett; four sisters: Amanda Hazlett and fiancé Josh Runkle, Lauriel Feece-Birchmeier all of Rochester, Meghan Hazlett of Mesa, AZ, Katelyn Crohn and husband Tyler of Wheat Ridge, CO; a brother, Steven Newton and companion Sabrina of Indianapolis; grandparents, Albert and Karen Deckys; niece and nephews: Lillian Mae Gerald, Wesley James Gerald, Jaxon Kenneth Runkle.

Preceding Kaleb in death are his maternal grandparents, William and Barbara Cessna and his paternal grandparents, Donald and Betty Hazlett.

Kaleb's family reminds us all that returning to civilian life from military duty is tough and challenging.
