Obituary

Joshua A. Brugh, 37, of Rochester, was surrounded by his loving family when he passed away at 10:10 PM, Monday, April 3 , 2017 at his residence.  This followed a courageous battle with a Grade 4 Glioblastoma brain tumor.

In Fulton County, on May 6 , 1979, Joshua Alex Brugh was born. He was a treasured son of Jim and Ronda Hood Brugh. As one of the five Brugh children, he shared his childhood with a sister Audra and three brothers Jason, Joel and Jim.  During his high school years he was a teammate and captain for the Culver Military Academy men's soccer team.  He graduated from CMA in 1997.

Continuing his formal education, Joshua garnered academic scholarships and attended Wabash College.  He later earned a degree as a registered nurse.  Before joining the nursing profession he enjoyed the adventure and excitement of the ocean waters.  Joshua trained and earned his Captain's License and led charter fishing runs out of Seward, AK thirty to forty miles out into the ocean in search of Halibut and other fish.  One summer Joshua served on a landing craft in the Bering Sea delivering heavy equipment to an island near the Russian coast.  The job was a challenge in the rough, icy waters.

Joshua earned his certification as a SCUBA diver in Thailand.  One winter his special talents also took him to the Florida Keys to run fishing expeditions.

Left to cherish Joshua's memory are his parents, Jim and Ronda of Rochester; a sister, Audra Lomba and husband Ray Anthony of Valley Center, CA; two brothers: Jason Brugh and wife Nicole of Flagstaff, AZ, and Jim Brugh and wife Melissa of Mishawaka; nieces and nephews:  Addison Brugh, Tenaya Brugh, Zander Brugh, Jackson Hayes, Ashlyn Hayes, Sierra Bryant and husband Justin and son, Ira. His maternal grandmother is Doris Hood of Rochester.

Joshua was preceded by brother, Joel A. Brugh on July 28 , 2009; maternal grandfather, Kenneth Hood on October 2 , 2004; paternal grandparents: Mildred Brugh on November 5 , 2012 and Joseph Brugh on October 15 , 2014.

Private family services will be held. Joshua will be laid to eternal rest on the family plot at the Rochester IOOF Cemetery.  Preferred memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to the Fulton County Cancer Fund through the Northern Indiana Community Foundation, 715  Main Street, Rochester, IN  46975.
