Obituary

Mr. John Edward Kuhn 81 of Rochester,  was surrounded by his loving family when he passed away at 9:34 AM on March 20 , 2019 at North Woods Village of Ft. Wayne.

Born in Fulton County on March 22 , 1937, John was a treasured son of  Harold and Louedva (Bunn) Kuhn.  Growing up he shared his childhood with a brother Larry and two sisters Marilyn Jean and Mary Ruth.   John graduated from Richland Center High School in 1955 where he played basketball for the Wildcats and was able to dunk it.

On June 23 , 1957, John married his high school sweetheart, Norita Riddle, at Tiosa Brethren Church. They were married for 55 years.  From their union came two wonderful children Jerry and Kathy.  The family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of two grandchildren.

A man of strong  faith, John was a member of Tiosa Brethren Church until it disbanded. He then became member of the Riverview Community Church.  He enjoyed singing and with a servant's heart held many church offices and positions.  John was a life member of the Fulton County Historical Society where he volunteered many hours over the years.

In the early years, John worked at Forest Farms from 1954 - 1967.  On February of 1967 he accepted a position with REMC serving customers as a dependable lineman for more than three decades retiring in  May of 1999.

An avid sportsman, John enjoyed hunting deer, squirrel and rabbit.  He had a great life long passion for  farming.  To relax, John watch all sports on TV.  He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.   He thoroughly enjoyed  their quest to become world champions in 2017.


John will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Kathy Kuhn and spouse Denise Knuth of Roanoke; his son Jerry Kuhn and wife Janel (Wiechmann) of Russiaville; two grandchildren: Jared Kuhn of Farmington Hills, Michigan and Nicole Kuhn of Carmel, Indiana. He is survived by a brother, Larry Kuhn and wife Irene of Hudson, Florida and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of many years, Norita, his parents Harold and Louedva  Kuhn, and his two sisters: Marilyn Jean Overmyer and Mary Ruth Baker.

Pastor Rod Ruberg will officiate services.  Interment will be in the Richland Center IOOF Cemetery.
