Obituary

Mr. John W. "Chewy" Crull, 61, of Rochester, passed away at 2:39 PM Thursday, December 14 , 2017 at his residence.
On April 24 , 1956, John Wayne Crull was born in Logansport.   He was a treasured son of Clinton "Bud"  and  Faithe Darling Bird Crull.  Growing up he shared his childhood with a sister Angel and a brother Nathan.  In 1974 he graduated from Antioch High School in Antioch, California.
Many will remember Chewy as a driver of one of the Kuert Concrete Mixers making hundreds of special deliveries annually.  In addition to serving the company as driver/operator, he was a top mechanic for the Rochester plant.  Chewy was a member of the UAW Teamsters Local.  He also was co-owner of Tweedledee's.
Chewy was named after both of his maternal grandfathers, John Wayne Chewy Crull.  A passionate fan of legendary John Wayne, Chewy was the proud owner of many of  "The Duke's" collectibles and movies.  He also collected NASCAR memorabilia.  Chewy's  favorite driver was #88 Dale Jarrett.  He was an avid fan of NHRA driver John Force.  As a master mechanic,  Chewy spent much of his spare time in his garage tinkering and fine tuning engines.   Rest assured they always performed to his expectations.
Paramount in his life was his family.   Chewy had no children of his own but treated most children as his.  He was very close to his nieces and Tiffany & Ashley.  Favorite times were spending time together at the  holidays, birthdays and special family celebrations. He had a huge heart for the many animals that he had owned.  They looked forward to his daily return home to receive the love and affection they knew they would garner.
Left to cherish Chewy's memory are his sister, Angel Crull; a brother, Nathan Crull both of Rochester; nieces and nephews: Tiffany Abair and husband John, Ashley Pena and husband Fabian, Tyler Rogers; great nieces and nephews: Anthony Prater, Coraline Abair, Addison Abair, Aiden Pena, and Elizabeth Pena.
Preceding John in death are his parents; maternal grandparents John and Jennie Bird; paternal grandparents Wilford and Sarah Crull; uncle Richard Crull, aunt Lois Crull .
