Mrs. Jessie L. Bentley, 74, of Mentone passed away at 7:30 AM, Thursday, May 31st, 2012 at Miller's Merry Manor of Warsaw. She was born one of 13 children in Wheelwright, KY on April 17, 1938, to Thomas and Sylvania Johnson Wright. On January 11, 1958 Jessie and Whitten "Bud" Bentley were married in Bypro, KY. They were residents of Mentone and the Kosciusko County community for over 50 years. He preceded her in death on February 25, 2004. Jessie was a homemaker, and enjoyed crocheting and knitting for her family and friends. Bud and Jessie worked together, he tended to the garden and she canned the bountiful harvest. She was also an avid bowler. To relax she would sit down and write poetry, and later the family added her words to music creating beautiful songs. She worked at Mentone Egg for several years. Jessie will be lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Teresa Newcomer & Karen Bentley both of Mentone; 7 grandchildren: Anthony Newcomer & wife Katie of Akron, Erika Newcomer of Mentone, Brandon Newcomer & wife Stefanie of Silver Lake, Heather Bentley of Mentone, Tiffany Bentley of Mentone, Tanisha Powers of Cave Run, KY, Keesha Clark of Silver Lake; 14 great grandchildren, and expecting the blessing of 3 more this October. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 6 great grandchildren who were infant angels born into heaven, 11 sisters and one brother: Twins Billy Wright & Lilly Isacc, Dorsie Johnson, Mildred Burke, Millie Avalos, Geneva Holbrook, Pearlie Bentley, Annie Smith, Gracie Gillman, Rosie McCall, Gracie Shefflan, & infant Nina Wright. She will be laid to rest in the Mentone Cemetery.
