Obituary

Mr. Jerry Jones, 89, Rochester, passed away at 2:25 AM, Thursday, October 18th, 2012 at Life Care Center of Rochester. He was born in Richland Center on May 15, 1923, to Ray D. and Mildred Eash Jones. Jerry was a proud US Navy veteran. He served with the US Marines on Pacific Islands. During WWII, he was a radio man for the Navy. On September 16, 1954 Jerry and Mary Alice Long were married in Ligonier. Jerry retired as a train master from the Wabash Railroad in 1983. He was also a train dispatcher. His memberships include the First Christian Church, the LeRoy Shelton American Legion #36 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars #1343, Motor City Radio Club, Moslem Radio Club, the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners. Jerry will be lovingly remembered by his wife Mary Alice; daughter Laura Keller and husband Vance of Lake Okeechobee, FL; 2 sons: Howard Jones of Rochester, John Jones and wife Sharon of Trenton, MI: 12 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; a sister, Sara Jean Harmon; and nieces and nephews who also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Thomas W. Jones, and a brother Waldon A "Casey" Jones. Pastor Mike VanHeyningen will officiate services. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Fulton County Veterans Honor Guard and the US Navy Honor Guard. Interment will be in the Rochester IOOF Cemetery.
