Mrs. Janet Lowe, 78, of Rochester was surrounded by her loving family when she passed away on November 9, 2013 at Life Care Center, Rochester. On October 6, 1935, in Culver, Janet Lee Mikesell was born. She was the precious daughter of Donald and Alice Handy Mikesell. Growing up she shared her childhood with two brothers, Don and Bob. In May of 1953 with great Cavalier pride, Janet graduated from Culver High School. On January 19. 1958 in Culver Janet Lee married the love of her life Harold Wayne "Squeak" Lowe. Together they shared over 53 years of life's adventures. From their union came a daughter Pam,and two sons, Greg and Jeff. The family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of four grandchildren. In the early years, Squeak and Janet would dance the nights away at the Manitou Moose Lodge Family Center # 1107. With great enthusiasm she followed her children and grandchildren's school activities and sporting events, known as their number one cheerleader. Grandma Janet was no doubt the "best" back scratcher ever. She was remembered for dealing and playing some superb hands of Old Maid. There was never a short supply of Schwann's Ice Cream to share with her family. Grandma was always prepared. Proud to be the matriarch over three generations, Grandma Janet was delighted for the arrival of the holidays, especially Christmas. She possessed a huge arsenal of special delectable treats but in greatest demand was her deviled eggs and scalloped corn. Decorating the Christmas tree with multi-colored balloons added a festive touch. More recently Janet enjoyed chatting on the phone daily, keeping up with the latest with family and her special friends. Left to cherish Janet's memory are two sons: Greg and Dona Lowe of Rochester, Jeff and Cinda Lowe of Carmel; four grandchildren: Ashley Lowe and fiancée' Joel Burrus of Carmel, Austin Lowe and companion Amanda Jones of Muncie, Conner Lowe and Bryce Lowe of Carmel; a brother Donald Mikesell and wife Carol Ann of Muncie; and several nieces and nephews who also survive.
