Mrs. Jane Ann Hoffman, 66, of 4246 N. 375 W. Rochester, was surrounded by her loving family when she passed away at 2:00 PM, Thursday, October 13th, 2011 at home. On August 14, 1945, Jane was born from the union of Edward L. and Margaret Ellen Cutshaw Stanton. As the eldest of three children she shared her childhood growing up with her twin siblings Edward and Debra. Jane graduated with great pride from Akron High School in 1963. Following high school she attended and graduated from Ft. Wayne Cosmetology School, then worked as a stylist near Mentone until 1974. On October 19, 1973 Jane Stanton, married the love of her life, Rick A. Hoffman in Rochester. Next Wednesday they would have celebrated their 38th anniversary. Their union produced two beautiful daughters Jennifer and Danielle. Over the years the family tree grew to include 5 grandchildren. With great work ethic that spanned over 3 1/2 decades, Jane retired from the management - supervisory team from Lau Industries in 2008. For many years Jane was active with the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Manitou Moose Family Center, the Ladies Auxiliaries of the Manitou V.F.W. and the Leroy Shelton American Legion Post. An accomplished athlete, Jane let the good times roll at Quick's Lanes as a member of the Wednesday and Friday night leagues. For many years she was an active participant in the ladies state tournament. Possessing a great sense of adventure, Jane loved hitting the 4-wheeling trails of Wisconsin. Finishing up at the local casino, lended itself to being the perfect day. An avid golfer, Jane partnered with her golfing buddy Beth Biggs. Teamed together they conquered the links at Rochester's Mill Creek and Moss Creek in Winamac. Jane enjoyed her golfing vacations each February with Rick, traveling to scenic Lake Park, Georgia. On quiet evenings Jane was passionate about reading. She was especially fond of the works of Fern Michael, Stephen King and Danielle Steele for whom her second born daughter was named. At home Jane loved observing the wildlife that surrounded her home. Wild turkeys, deer, humming birds and a vast collection of backyard birds. Unique feeders adorned her yard welcoming the flocks of fowl and their friends. For many years Jane's garden produced yields that were used for soups, salsas and other special creations she made to share with her family. Fishing was another hobby she enjoyed from her home, kicking back and relaxing on the shores of the serene Tippecanoe. The spring time beckoned Jane to the woods where she hunted for mushrooms. She especially looked forward to hunting in special locales in Wisconsin and Michigan. Jane is lovingly remembered by her husband Rick, at home; 2 daughters, Jennifer Ratner, and husband Al of Iowa City,Iowa, and Danielle Muse and fiancé Chad Garrison of Rochester; 5 grandchildren, Sarah Ratner, Landon Muse, Alivia, Alexa, and Lucas Garrison; The TWINS: a sister: Debra K. Stanton and husband George "Skip" of Lexington, KY,and a brother: Edward J. Stanton and wife Paige of Raleigh, NC She was preceded in death by her parents.
