Mr. James Ivan Mathias, 65, formerly of 1084 Monticello Rd. Rochester, passed away in Florida. He was born in Rochester, IN on April 1, 1946, to Floyd and Ethel Moon Mathias and was a life time Fulton County resident. Jim was a heavy equipment operator for 30 years. He worked for McMahon O'Conner and E & B Paving, both of Rochester. He was a member of The Old Cross Road Baptist Church of Gilead and the Union of Operating Engineers, Local 150. Jim loved gospel music, and often shared his favorite CDs with family and friends. In the past he was an avid scuba diver and was also an instructor. He is survived by 2 aunts: Agatha Marsh of Rochester, Thelma Frettinger of Rochester; 3 uncles: Charles Moon of Mishawaka, IN, William Moon & wife Marilyn of Rochester ,Donald Moon and wife Emma of Bradenton, FL; several cousins and many friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents. A celebration of the life of Mr. James Mathias will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 11 in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester with Pastor Thad Stewart officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 9-11 on Wednesday in the funeral home. Interment will be in the Rochester IOOF Cemetery Rochester, IN.
