Obituary

Mr. James E. "Jim" Hudkins  68, of Rochester passed away on Monday, January 10 , 2022 at his residence.

On August 22 , 1953, James Edward was born to Richard and Lillian L. Mahler Hudkins. Growing up he shared his childhood with a brother, Dick.  In 1971, he graduated from Rochester High School.  As a Zebra Jim played on the RHS baseball team and was a four-year member of FFA. After graduation he continued his education at Ball State University. He spent many years helping his dad on the family farm and worked several years as plant manager at Good Earth Horticulture.

As an avid golfer, Jim enjoyed his time with friends at the local golf courses . On the banks of secluded ponds, he fished with his cane pole or casting rod.  Jim's memberships include the Sons of the American Legion and the Elks Lodge #2120, both of Rochester.

Left to cherish Jim's memory are his father, Richard Hudkins and companion Jean Simpson; a half-sister, Jane Schulburg (Don); a niece, Becky Peterman (Ryan); a nephew, Jeremy Hudkins (Lexi); many loving cousins; as well as  Brad Kelly, Ben Daulton and Bob Hudkins who were like brothers.

Preceding Jim in death are his mother, Lillian on August 7 , 2001 and brother Richard "Dick" Hudkins on May 5 , 1996.

A celebration of the life of James A. Hudkins will be at 1:00 PM Monday, January 17 , 2022 in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18 th St., Rochester. Friends may visit with the family two hours prior to the service in the funeral home.  Interment will be in the Rochester IOOF Cemetery.
