Mr. James "Jim" R. Bair 98 of Rochester passed away at 8:00 a.m., Monday May 5th at his Wynnfield Crossing residence. On April 8, 1916, Jim was born in Peru the treasured son of George Frank and Martha Linebeck Bair. During his childhood the family moved to near Ft. Wayne. In 1934, Jim graduated from Ft. Wayne Southside High School, going on to study at Purdue University. In Seymour, on June 14, 1941, James R. Bair married the love of his life, Margaret O. Murphy Bair. They were married nearly 68 years. From their union came two wonderful sons, Tom and Steve. The family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of four grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Less than two years after his marriage, on January 19, 1943, Jim answered the call of patriotism, serving our country during World War II with the United States Army. During his stint he was decorated with the American Theatre Ribbon, EAME Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and Victory Medal of World War II. A Warsaw resident for well over a half century, Jim, a Warsaw businessman, co-owned the NAPA Dealership until he retired several years ago. As a loyal and devoted member of the Warsaw 1st Presbyterian Church, he served as deacon, elder and trustee. Other memberships include the Warsaw Shrine Club, the Masonic Lodge where he attained 32 Degree Mason, and the Scottish Rite of Ft. Wayne. Left to cherish Jim's memory are two sons: Tom Bair and wife Sue of Rochester, Steven R. Bair and wife Pam of Cumming, GA, four grandchildren Chris Bair and wife Kerri of Orlando, Matt Bair of Indianapolis, Jill Longfellow and husband Steve of Estero, FL, Tessa Bair of Indianapolis and a great-granddaughter Alexis Jade. Preceeding him in death are his parents, his loving wife Margaret on June 7, 2009 and his sister Phyllis during infancy. Jim's family will celebrate his life in June with a private family celebration honoring his memory. The Good Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
