Obituary

Mr. Herbert "Bud" Pohlmann, 84, Rochester, was surrounded by his loving family when he passed away at 4:55 AM, Saturday, November 30th, at St. Vincent's Hospital, Indianapolis. Born in Chicago on March 30, 1929, Herbert was a treasured son of Ernest Anton and Florence Olsen Pohlmann. Growing up he shared his childhood with his brother Sheldon. Following graduation from Lane Technical High School in Chicago in January of 1947, Bud enlisted with the US Navy. He was assigned to the VF - 34, USS Leyte, an aircraft carrier that was positioned in the Mediterranean during the Korean War. After Bud's honorable discharge he was employed by Teletype Corporation where he was responsible for technical education of Western Electric employees. Upon the dissolution of the Teletype Corp he began working for AT&T as a systems analyst. He retired from AT&T in 1989 and was recruited by Sears where he developed communication networks for commercial clientele. While Bud took great pride in his 43 years in the evolving computer industry, his greatest source of joy was his family. In 1996 he and his wife Bernadette retired to Leiter's Ford, IN. They made their home on the Tippecanoe River where he looked forward to times his family could be together and to plan family vacations. He never tired of enjoying the beauty of each season on the Tippecanoe. Left to cherish Bud's memory are his loving wife of 45 years, Bernadette, at home; two sons: Curtis Anton Davidson and Erik Joseph, Uncle of Linda Elaine Dompke, husband Leonard and Michael Herbert Pohlmann, wife Paulette, Great Uncle to Katherine and Briana. Preceding Bud in death are his parents Florence Olsen and Ernest Anton Pohlmann, brother Sheldon John Pohlmann, and his wife Lorraine and many other relatives and friends Bud made along life's journey. Chaplain Jason See will officiate services. Military graveside rites will be accorded at the Leiter's Ford IOOF Cemetery by the Fulton County Honor Guard and the US Navy Honors Team.
