Mrs. Helen Fisher, 76, of Rochester passed away at 5:00 PM, Friday, September 19th, at Life Care Center. On September 3, 1938, Helen was born a cherished daughter of Adolpf and Susie Unrau Friesen. Growing up she shared her childhood with a sister Susanne. Following her graduation from high school she went to Goshen College and earned a bachelors degree in elementary education. Later she attended Ball State University, earning a masters of science degree. Mrs. Fisher taught school at Argos Elementary for a number of years. Helen and Gene Fisher were married in Goshen on June 3, 1972. Together they enjoyed over 31 years of life's adventures. Sadly he passed away on May 7, 2004. During her earlier years Helen was a devoted member of the Burton -- Richland Center United Methodist Church. To relax, she enjoyed arts and crafts, expressing herself with watercolor or colored pencil. Helen also painted many ceramics. At home she maintained a beautiful herb garden. A lifelong learner, she enjoyed reading. Left to cherish Helen's memory are cousins Darla Stoneburner and husband Stephen of Bourbon, and Jerry Fisher and wife Michele of North Webster. Preceding Helen in death are her parents, husband Gene Fisher and sister Susanne Friesen on May 22, 2014. Pastor Tom Richards will officiate services. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband Gene in the Richland Center IOOF cemetery.
