Obituary

Mr. Gregory A. Shepherd, 64, Rochester, was surrounded by his loving family when he passed away at 11:15 pm, Wednesday, May 21st, at Parkview Regional Medical Center of Fort Wayne. On September 29, 1949, Greg was born in Rochester to Kenneth Eldon and Agnes Lykins Shepherd. As one of 4 children, he shared his childhood with 3 sisters: Jean, Beth and Gale. A proud Zebra, Greg graduated from Rochester High School with his class in 1967. Later he served with the US Marine Corp during the Vietnam Era. Greg and Sheila Crow were married on February 1, 1985 in Rochester. Together they enjoyed over 29 years of life's adventures. Many will remember Greg as one of Rochester Water Department's service technicians. His memberships include the Eagles Lodge, and life memberships with the Manitou VFW Post #1343 and the Leroy Shelton American Legion Post #36 where he served as commander for four different stints. As an armchair athlete, Greg followed Notre Dame football, the Bears, the Cubs and Indiana University basketball especially during the Bobby Knight era. In his earlier years he enjoy golf. You could find Greg seated at the card table playing spirited card games with his buddies. There was nothing better than cruising around on a summer evening in his 1979 green Corvette with Shelia at his side. Left to cherish Greg's memory are his wife Sheila; a step-daughter, Angela Cook and husband Michael of Portage, MI; 2 grandchildren: Zachary Cook and Cassandra Cook, both of Portage, MI; 2 sisters: Jean Potts and husband Marshall of Piggott, AR, and Gale Beller of Rochester; 2 sisters-in-law: Pam Fish of Rochester and Deborah Barick and husband Chris of Indianapolis; and several nieces and a nephew. Preceding Greg in death are his parents, a sister, Beth Knouff, and a step-son, Craig Crow on January 3, 2010.
