Gloria J. Cox

Gloria J. Cox, 76, of Rochester, passed away at 10:50 PM on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at her residence.

On April 22, 1950, Gloria Jo Floyd was born in Rochester to Ernest and Olivia Rude Floyd. Growing up, she shared her childhood with a sister Sue and two brothers, Jack and Ernie.

Gloria and Nelson Edward Cox were married on January 18, 1994, in Rochester and shared 30 years of life's adventures. Sadly, he passed away on April 10, 2024.

With a strong work ethic, Gloria was a packer of paper products for Moore's Business Forms of Rochester. Gloria enjoyed gardening and maintaining her vegetable and flower beds. Playing the penny slots at the Four Winds Casino was one of her favorite past times. Over the past couple of years, she had really missed and cherished the memories of her beloved Nelson.

Gloria is lovingly remembered by two daughters: Wendy Goodman and companion Kelly Cowger of Rochester, Bobbie Jo Stewart of Etna Green; son, Jason Goodman of Lafeyette; two stepchildren: Shannon Yochum and husband Rob of Winslow, AR, Nelson Cox Jr., of Rochester; five grandchildren: DeLisa, India, Braxton, Montey, Ayla; five great grandchildren: Seth, Ethan, Kabel, Marlow, Marcellus; brother, Ernest Floyd and wife Rosie of Greenville, AL; and nieces and nephews.

Preceding Gloria in death are her parents Ernie Floyd and Olivia Floyd Kleine; husband Nelson Cox; grandson Jacob Goodman on May 11, 2018; sister, Sue Crabbs; and brother Jack Floyd.

A graveside service celebrating the life of Gloria Jo Cox will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 12, 2026, at the Athens Hoover Cemetery.
