Mr. Glenn D. Shriver, 85, of Rochester, was surrounded by his loving family when he passed away at the Richard A. Roudebush VA Hospital in Indianapolis.

On May 13, 1932, in Rochester, Glenn D. Shriver was born to Jesse and Dora Loughman Shriver. Growing up he shared his childhood with two sisters and three brothers. Glenn graduated from Rochester High School in 1950. Patriotism beckoned and he answered the call serving with the United States Air Force during the Korean War.

In Rochester, on December 17, 1955, Glenn married the love of his life Pat Owens. Together they enjoy over 52 years of life's adventures.

Gifted with his hands, Glenn erected many grain bins and silos for farmers around northern Indiana. He was accomplished with his skills in welding. He later traveled and erected huge commercial silos and bins throughout Texas, New Mexico and Arizona.

An avid jeweler, he created many custom pieces--bracelets, necklaces and rings, many times with accents of the southwest. He took raw materials, stones, cut and polished them to perfection prior to the mounting process. Glenn embraced the outdoors enjoying many hikes around the desert and up the mountains. At home he was intrigued by the flight and behavior of the humming birds that he fed and frequently observed. Best remembered as Uncle Glenn, he treasured the many memories he made through the years with his loving nephews and nieces and other family members.

Left to cherish Glenn's memory are 3 nephews: Steve & Jane Shriver, Butch Shriver, Robbie & Becky Holloway; 3 nieces: Gloria Ann Chapel, Debbie Hall, Pauline Redinger; a sister-in-law, Virginia Jensen: his caretaker, Susan; several cousins, numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; 2 grandchildren: Christopher & Tricia Shinn; and  his treasured feline companion "Furball", the orange domestic tabby.

Preceding him in death are his parents Jesse and Dora; his beloved wife Pat on September 29, 2008; daughter Dora Lisa Shinn; 2 sisters: Vera Holloway, Trella Sweares; 3 brothers: Ernie Shriver, Donald Shriver on July 9, 1999, an infant brother Jesse Shriver; a niece, Karen Johnson; and two nephews: Ronnie Shriver and Larry Shriver.

Missionary Rolland Smith will officiate services. Burial will take place in Rochester's IOOF Cemetery. Military grave side rites will be accorded by the Fulton County Veteran's Honor Guard and the US Air Force Honors Team.
