Mrs. Gertrud Elsa Henriott, 93, of Rochester was surrounded by her loving family when she passed away at 11:40 PM on Saturday, November 24 , 2018 at McKinney Place, Logansport.
On April 25 , 1925, Gertrud was born in Beerwalde, Sachsen, Germany. She was a treasured daughter of Curt Richard and Frieda Elsa Hesse Seifert.
In Frankfort, Germany, Gertrud married Paul Henriott on May 6 , 1955. They shared 61 years of life's adventures. From their union came four wonderful children. Paul and Gertrud moved their children Curt, Desiree, Romy and Bernadette, to Rochester from Ft. Sill in Lawton, Oklahoma in 1963. Since that time the family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of two more generations.
Accomplished with handiwork, Gertrud was a skilled seamstress. She also liked to knit, crochet and especially liked to make blankets and scarves for the family. She also embroidered table cloths. As a wine maker, Gertrud created flavors from dandelions, grapes and roses, with grape being her best flavor.
Gertrud worked as a substitute teacher for Rochester High School for many years and loved meeting her many students. She was also a devoted member of the St. John Lutheran Church.
Left to cherish Gertrud's memory are three daughters: Desiree Small and husband Morris Jr. of Logansport, Romy Shortz and companion Paul Bikowski of Amarillo, Texas, and Bernadette Henriott and husband Edward Regnier of Bourbonnais, IL; daughter-in-law March Henriott of Rochester; four grandchildren: Amanda Henriott and companion Todd Eberlein of Indianapolis, Alicia Conner and husband Brandon of Rochester, Nicholas Small of Logansport, Alaina Small and companion Eddie Holcomb of Logansport; four great grandchildren: Ian Conner, Layknn Davidson, Alexander Holcomb, Curt Henriott Conner; a brother-in-law, James Henriott and wife Beatrice of Knox; a nephew, Wolfgang Seifert and wife Renate of Beerwalde, Germany; and a great nephew, Michael Seifert and son of Chemnitz, Germany.
Preceding Gertrud in death are her parents, her sister, Elfrieda, husband Paul on August 16 , 2016, son Curt Henriott on August 3 , 2017 and two grandsons, Brian and Ryan Small, both in September of 1994.
A private family gathering and service will be held at a later date with Pastor Curtis May officiating. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery with her beloved husband.
