Mr. George F. Bailey Sr., 79, of Akron was surrounded by his loving family when he passed away at 7:34 PM on Wednesday, October 27 , 2021 at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne.
On November 14 , 1941, George was born in Iaeger, WV to Clarence and Clemmie Lester Bailey. As one of six children, he shared his childhood with one sister and four brothers.
George and Roseann Woody were married on October 30 , 1961 in Silver Lake. They shared 42 years of life's adventures. From their union came two daughters and two sons. Two more generations have been added to the family tree with the blessings of seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
An amazing card player, George played many spirited games of poker with great success crushing the competition. He enjoyed trading vehicles and competing with Lacey at the coon dog hunts. Paramount in George's life was his family. He looked forward to special family celebrations and the holidays, being surrounded by family making memories.
Left to cherish George's memory are four children: Beulah Bailey and companion Eric White of Akron, George Bailey Jr. and wife Tina Marie of Mentone, Maria Deniston and husband Will of Akron, Todd Bailey and companion Aimee Trout of Rochester; seven grandchildren: Alicia Slone, Lance Bailey, Laci Rae Bailey, Autumn Rose Deniston and companion Evan Shiwpaul, Keenan Lee Deniston, Peyton James Bailey, Evelene Ruby Bailey; seven great-grandchildren: Carissa Rose Slone, Carson Breece Bailey, Raigan Emilee Bailey, Brighton Scott Bailey, Everett George Bailey, Izaiah Ross Harper, Stryker Cedrick Harper; two brothers: Luther Bailey and wife Anna Grace of Claypool, Gerald Bailey and wife Judy of Akron; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding George in death are his parents; beloved wife, Roseann on July 15 , 2003; sister, Kathleen "Cat" Dooley; two brothers: Doug Bailey, and William Bailey; and three canine companions: Corey the Golden Retriever, Bella the Black Lab and Lacey the coon dog.
A celebration of the life of George F. Bailey will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 3 , 2021 at the Free United Baptist Church, 7035 South St. Rd. 13, Sydney. Pastor Ward Allen will officiate. Friends may visit with the family from 4-7 PM on Tuesday, November 2 , 2021 and one hour prior to the services in the church. Interment will be in the Silver Creek Church of God Cemetery.
