Obituary

Mr. Gary Ralph Rothenberger, 40, of 1145 Fawn Trail, Rochester passed away Friday afternoon. Gary was born on February 15, 1971, the son of Dennis and Gilda Marol Rothenberger. Growing up he shared his childhood with his brother Adam. With great Tiger pride he graduated from Warsaw High School in 1989. He also had attended Brown Mackie College in South Bend. On May 13, 2006 he married Andrea Gagnon who survives. With intrigue for speed, Gary loved NASCAR racing. "J.J." # 48 Jimmy Johnson was his favorite driver. He enjoyed trekking to Michigan International Speedway home of the Carfax 400 to watch the big race each summer. His admiration for Johnson led him to name his beloved tiger cat "J.J." in his honor. He also enjoyed touring around on his cobalt blue Yamaha V-Star and the challenges of the game of golf. An avid outdoorsman, Gary frequently camped at the "Fish-n-Fun Campground," northwest of Rochester. There was no better way to relax than cooking over the campfire under the starlit skies. He embraced nature by floating down the Tippecanoe River with family and friends and hiked on the trails of France Park and the Tippecanoe Preserve--all adventures that made many memories. Gary is lovingly remembered by his wife Andrea; 5 daughters: Bridha Rothenberger of Rochester, Jada Rothenberger of Syracuse, Becca Stevens Bardsley of Chulavista, California, Kara Stevens of Syracuse, Abrianna Leyva of Rochester; 2 sons: Karson Rothenberger and Bentlon Leyva both of Rochester; his brother, Adam Rothenberger and wife Kelly of Avilla; 3 step-brothers: Michael McDonald and Anthony McDonald of Warsaw and Dennis "Smokey" Baker of Pierceton; a step-sister Misty Hudson of Akron, his parents: Gilda McDonald of Sarasota, FL, Dennis and Elaine Rothenberger of Warsaw; brother and sister-in-law; Phil Gagnon and wife Lori, of Pierceton, and his feline companion "J.J." a tiger cat.
