Mr. Fred F. Foreman, 97, of Nyona Lake, passed away at 6:18 AM, on Monday, February 5, 2018 at Wynnfield Crossing of Rochester
On August 25, 1920, Frederick Franklin Foreman was born in Peru. He was a treasured son of Bert and Arminda MacKinzie Foreman. Growing up he shared his childhood with a sister and five brothers. He graduated from Mexico High School.
Patriotism beckoned and Fred answered the call, serving with the United States Army during World War II. As a member of the infantry he helped liberate the Island of Cebu and was decorated with 2 bronze stars, a purple heart, good conduct medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon, Victory Medal World War II and the combat infantry badge: rifle sharpshooter.
Fred and Martha Jane "Marty" Mikels were married on January 1, 1944 in Howard County. They shared 72 years of life's adventures. Their union produced two sons, Terry and Mike and the blessings of three more generations have been added to the family tree.
An avid golfer, Fred's favorite course was Millcreek. He also enjoyed bowling and fishing on the sparkling waters of Nyona Lake. As grandparents, Marty and Fred enjoyed cheering on the grandchildren at all of the Caston Comets games. His favorite college teams were Indiana University basketball and Notre Dame football.
Left to cherish Fred's memories are two sons: Terry Foreman and wife Carol, Mike Foreman and wife Becky all of Nyona Lake; five grandchildren: Drew Foreman, Derrick Foreman, Christy Dopps and husband Adam, Nikki Evans and husband Chuck, Teresa Shakley and husband Chris; two step-grandchildren: Shawn May and Lisa Titus; nine great-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren, four great- great-grandchildren and four step-great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Fred in death are his parents, beloved wife Marty on August 11, 2016, one sister and five brothers.
Pastor Teri White will officiate servcies. Military rites will be conducted by the Fulton County Veterans Honor Guard and the US Army Honors Team. Interment will be in the Rochester IOOF Cemetery.
