Obituary

Former Rochester resident, Mrs. Evelyn L Walker, 96 passed away at 11:50 PM, Sunday, June 17, 2018 at the Crown Point Christian Village.

On January 29, 1922, Evelyn Lorraine Carlile was born in Remington.  She was the precious daughter of  Morris and Hazel Hicks Carlile.  Growing up she shared her childhood with a sister Lois and a brother Roy.  With great Tiger pride Evelyn graduated from Warsaw High School in 1940.  She continued her education at the Ft. Wayne Beauty School.  Following graduation she opened a styling salon in Warsaw.

In Warsaw, on April 7, 1946, Evelyn married the love of her life Mr. Russell D. Walker. They shared 46 years of life's adventures.  From their union came two handsome sons.  The family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of three more generations.

Evelyn was a loyal and devoted member of Grace United Methodist Church for more than a half century, initiating her membership in 1966.  She was a member of the United Methodist Women, Tri-Kappa, Rochester Garden Club and Welcome Wagon.  For many years she worked for Rochester Community Schools as an instructional assistant in Reading. To relax, she played canasta and pinochle.

Left to cherish Evelyn's memory are two sons: David Walker and wife Joyce and Doug Walker and wife Rhonda all of Hebron; four grandchildren:  Julie Mikulich, Jackie Gibson and husband Cory, Erin Wolfley and husband Kyle, Michael Walker and wife Allison; seven great grandchildren: Camden and Easton Mikulich, Isabella and Kellan Wolfley, Charlotte and Logan Walker, Halle Gibson with another baby boy Walker due in July 2018; brother-in-law:  Eugene Ford.

Preceding Evelyn in death are her parents Morris and Hazel Carlile, beloved husband Russ on February 11,1992, a sister Lois Ford and a brother, Roy Carlile.

A celebration of the life of Evelyn Walker will be at 2:00 PM  on Thursday, June 21, 2018 in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18 th St., Rochester .  Friends may visit with the family from 12-2 on Thursday in the funeral home. Interment will be in the Rochester IOOF Cemetery.
