Evelyn M. Braman, 92, of Rochester, was surrounded by her loving family when she passed away at 11:20 AM, Sunday, December 10, 2017 at Life Care Center of Rochester.
On September 28, 1925, Evelyn Marie Van Duyne was born in Fulton County. She was a treasured daughter of Fred K. and Mildred Fultz Van Duyne. Growing up she shared her childhood with a sister Marilyn and brother Fredrick. A member of 4-H for a decade, during her high school years the birth of the Jersey triplets was memorable. In 1943 Evelyn graduated from Rochester High School.
In the First Presbyterian Church of Rochester, on November 23, 1946, Mr. Calvin Braman and Evelyn were married. They shared 58 years of life's adventures. From their union came three daughters and three sons. The family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
During the early years Evelyn worked for the Chester White Association. Later as a full time homemaker she began raising her family. She returned to the workforce as Secretary for the Fulton County Drainage Board. Most will remember Evelyn from her days in the courthouse serving Fulton County as our treasurer.
As a devoted member of the Community Presbyterian Church for over seventy years, Evelyn served her church in a variety of ways including deacon and elder. She also held memberships with Nyona-South Mud Lake Association, the Green Oak Club, and was a 4-H leader for the Woodrow Peppers for many years. She was a past president of the Fulton County Republican's Club.
