Ethel Viola Pottenger Hyjek, 97, passed away on June 15 , 2017 in Fair Oaks, CA. On April 17 , 1920, she was born in Logansport to Charles M. and Ada M. Clingenpeel Pottenger.

As a civilian, Ethel worked as an aircraft assembler. Answering the call of patriotism, Ethel served with the US Air Force, during World War II. Sgt. Pottenger was honorably discharged in 1947.

Ethel was a homemaker and cherished the time with her husband Raymond and their two sons. To relax, she enjoyed gardening.

Ethel will be lovingly remembered by two sons: Mark Hyjek and Larry Hyjek; brother Paul Pottenger and wife Mary of Rochester; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Ethel in death are her parents; husband Raymond; sisters: Dorothy Orpurt and Margaret Blackburn; brothers: William "Hooker" Pottenger and Marvin Pottenger.

A  public memorial service for Ethel will be at 11:00 AM of Friday, October 27 , 2017 in the Good Family Funeral Home 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester. Chaplain Dan DeCrow will officiate. Military rites will be conducted by the Fulton County Veterans' Honor Guard and the US Air Force Honors Team.

Private family interment will be in the Deedsville Cemetery.
