Mrs. Ellen S. Scott, 71, of Rochester passed away on
September 14
, 2019 near Stevensville, Michigan due to injuries she sustained in a motor vehicle accident.

, 1948, Ellen Sue Harts was born in Miami County. She was the treasured daughter of Richard Zody and Marilyn Jenkins Harts. Growing up she shared her childhood with a brother Larry. Ellen graduated from Rochester High School in 1966.
Many lab patients at Woodlawn Hospital will remember the radiant smile of Ellen as she smoothly was able to draw blood with ease from her patients. This self taught phlebotomist trained many understudies on the proper technique. After more than 20 years of dedicated service she retired in 2013. Following her retirement Ellen enjoyed chatting with friends and helping customers at her daughter Stacy's store "Craft Crossing."
In Gatlinburg, Tennessee, Ellen and Doug were married on
June 2
, 1997. They enjoyed 22 years of life's adventures. Ellen and Doug were both members of the Indiana Shelby American Automobile Club. Ellen was currently serving as a member of the board of directors. They were proud to cruise to car shows in their treasured 2008 cherry red Mustang Shelby GT 500 convertible accented with white racing stripes. Then competing with friends. It was Ellen who applied the finishing touches detailing it to perfection. Summer weekends were spent boating on the sparkling waters of Lake Michigan departing from the docks at St. Joe, MI. They totally enjoyed the freedom and relaxation on the waters in their cabin cruiser.
Doug and Ellen also looked forward to a couple of annual excursions to Bradenton, Florida where they embraced the surf, sand and sunshine. Garage sales, auctions and junking brought them great joy while discovering treasures.
Left to cherish Ellen's memory are her children: Stacy Heckathorn and husband J.D. of Rochester, Melissa Music and husband Kelly of Peru, Kiley White and husband Daryl of Indianapolis, Stephanie Rensberger and husband Rich, and Steven Douglas Scott all of Rochester; grandchildren: Justin Baird and wife Ashley, J Heckathorn, Josh Heckathorn and fiance Lindsay, Morgan Conley and husband Kolby, Madison Wolfe, Brendan Dodge, Kendell Music and grand-dog Barkley; six great-grandchildren; and a brother Larry Harts and companion Becky of Bunker Hill.
Preceding Ellen in death are her parents: Marilyn Harts on

, 201; 6 year old nephew Evan Palmer Harts; and a treasured grand-dog Keynu, who crossed Rainbow Bridge.
A celebration of the life of Mrs. Ellen Sue Scott will be on
Friday, September 20
at 11:00 AM. Pastor Ken Smith and Chaplain Jason See will officiate. Friends may visit with his family from 4:00 - 7:00 on

and an hour prior to services on
Friday
. Burial will follow at Rochester's IOOF Cemetery.
