Mrs. Elfriede Martin, 91, of Rochester was surrounded by her loving family when she passed away at 9:47 AM on Wednesday, October 17 , 2018 at Woodlawn Hospital.

On October 21 , 1926, in Speyer,  Pflaz,  Germany, Elfriede was born to Christine Lederle.  Growing up she shared her childhood with five sisters.

Much of her adult life was spent in Kokomo.  Mrs. Martin worked many years in the Sears business office as a bookkeeper. Following her retirement she moved to Lake Manitou.  She was a loyal member of the Elks Lodge # 2120.

Left to cherish  Elfriede's memory are her son Klaus Eck and wife Sandy of Rochester; three grandchildren: Lisa Smoker, Kelley Rensberger, Christina Eck; eight great-grandchildren: Tara Smoker, Tyler Smoker, Thomas Rensberger, Evan Rensberger, Kathleen Rensberger, Jordan Eck, Jared Eck, Jalen Eck; two great-great-grandchildren: Brantlyn Brubaker, Keeghan Smoker; a niece, Sonja Turley and husband Mike of Kokomo; a special friend, Cheryl Conner of Rochester; and three sisters:  Henrietta Munch, Ruth Paulus, Thea Beck all of Germany.

Preceding Elfriede in death are her parents, beloved husband Howard Martin, granddaughter, Amy Davis, two sisters, Gertrud and Liesel.

Interment will be at a later date in the Sunset Memory Gardens of Kokomo.
