Mr. Douglas L. Capper, 63, of Rochester, passed away at 7:00 PM Wednesday, September 27 , 2017 in Winamac.

On January 18 , 1954, in Pulaski County, Doug was born.  He was a treasured son of  Jack and Berneice Haselby Capper.  Growing up he shared his childhood with two brothers John and Barry and a sister Colleen.  Doug graduated from Winamac High School with the class of 1972.

Following high school Doug attended Indiana University where he studied accounting, earning a Bachelor's degree  in 1976.  While at IU he was well acquainted with the basketball team during their years with Bobby Knight while dominating the Big 10 and earning a NCAA championship.   IU basketball became a lifelong passion.  Doug also enjoyed golf, listening to all kinds of music and following the  Chicago's Cubs and Bears.

With a strong work ethic, Doug began his professional career with the Farm Credit Services from 1976- 1979.  He returned to the family farm near Winamac assisting with the daily operations until 1986. In 1991 Doug earned the distinction of a certified public accountant. He then joined Galbreath working until 1992, when he changed to Pike Lumber Company in Akron, working for a decade.   He established the Douglas Capper, CPA firm in 2002 in Winamac with an office also in Rochester serving business and family accounting needs for the past 15 years.

On March 28 , 2003 in Phoenix, AZ Doug and Angie Andrews were married.  They shared 14 years of life's adventures.  Travel was a common interest and they enjoyed visiting a variety of destinations, most recently returning  from a trip to Alaska.  Weekends brought on many rounds of golf, for Doug and Angie all over Indiana.  There was nothing more fun than being on the golf course enjoying the game, fresh air and sunshine.

Grandpa Capper  enjoyed overseeing three generations.  He treasured the  time spent  with his children and grandchildren and looked forward to making memories during special family celebrations.  Doug followed them all and loved  watching them excel in athletic activities, band and choir concerts.

Left to cherish Doug's memory are  his wife, Angie; daughter Karen Steuer and husband Matthew of Indianapolis, a son, Christopher Capper of Indianapolis; six Steuer grandchildren: Jackson, Amelia, Liam, Grant, Katelyn and Miriam; two brothers: John Capper IV and wife Jill of Crawfordsville, Barry Capper and wife Karen of Plymouth; a sister, Colleen Capper of Madison, WI; and several nieces and nephews.  P receding Doug in death are his parents.

Pastor Rick Abbott will officiate services.  Interment will be in McKinley Memorial Gardens of Winamac.
