Obituary

Mrs. Doris Ann Norris Goode, 65, of Rochester passed away at 11:41 AM, Tuesday, February 19th, 2013 at Goshen Hospital. Born in Rochester on July 22, 1947, Doris Ann was the precious daughter of Laurence Hubert "Buck" and Marguerite Slonaker Norris. Growing up she shared her childhood with a sister Doreen and brother David. In 1965 she graduated with her class from Rochester High School. In 1971 Doris completed her studies at the University of Missouri earning a Bachelor's of Arts in Music. Between academic stints, Doris married her best friend and the love of her life, Mr. Timothy Owens Goode in Buchannan, MI. Following her studies at the University of Notre Dame in counseling psychology, she was awarded her masters degree in 1988. Later that year she and Tim opened the Goode Counseling Service with offices in South Bend. More recently they moved the office to Lakeville. During her years of counseling, Doris developed a vast client base over north central Indiana. She will be sadly missed by her many clients who truly loved her. To relax, Doris enjoyed crafts, especially creating unique floral arrangements and flowered wreaths. She was also an accomplished musician, seated at the keyboards of the organ and piano, she could make the instruments "sing." Tim and Doris, life partners, shared many adventures over their 32 years of marriage. Not only were they partners in their counseling business, they enjoyed antiquing and local auctions. They were loyal to Notre Dame football and Muffet McGraw's Lady Irish. They enjoyed gardening, both flowers and vegetables, and the sunsets from the cruise ships as they toured the Caribbean. At home they shared many walks in the evening, unwinding with their canine kids Alice the Boxer, and Eddie the Pit Bull. Doris is lovingly remembered by her husband Tim; a sister, Doreen M. Ehresman and husband Steve of Lafayette; nieces and nephews; and her treasured canine companions Alice and Eddie. Preceding her in death are her parents, a brother David Norris, an infant sister Brenda Kay Norris, and an Aunt Doris Slonaker for whom she was named, Pastor James Tippin will officiate services, assisted by Representative Jackie Walorski. Interment will be in the Fulton Cemetery.
