Obituary

Donald E. Raska, 66, of Rochester, passed away at 9:57 AM on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne.

On January 2, 1956, Donald Eugene was born in Canton, IL to George Jr. and Patricia Irene Lewis Raska. Growing up he shared his childhood with a sister and a brother George.

For most of his life, Don worked at the Galva Foundry in Galva, IL as well as operating his construction company for over 20 years. Locally, as a foreman, Don worked at Rochester Metal Products.

Being an armchair quarter back with a Budweiser in hand, Don was an avid Chicago Bears fan.  The Cubbies were loved as well.  Watching John Wayne movies and crime shows with his kids was a great time.  He would often "con" the kids to help him put his boots on.  During hunting seasons, Don and James would target deer and pheasant.  Don cherished the time spent with his children and grandchildren, whether it was camping, fishing or a driver's lesson, memories were always made.

Left to cherish the memories of Don are three daughters:  Amber Sauer and husband Brian of Kewanee, IL, Jamie Painter and husband Troy of Galesburg, IL, Anna Nicole Stanley of Rochester; two sons:   James Raska and wife Nicole of Galesburg, IL, Braxton Donald Harold Raska of Rochester;  fourteen grandchildren:  Jacquel, Jewel, Noah, Alexis, Brian Jr, Peyton, Aiden, Jordan, Noah, Emma, Zhoe, Faith, Allyson, Aubrey;  two great grandchildren: Bentley and Skyelynn; a sister, Vicki Schoop and husband Tim  of Kewanee, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Don in death are his parents; a son, Zachery Alen Pierce on March 26, 2017; and a brother, George Raska,  June of 2021.

A service for Donald Eugene Raska will held at a later date.
