Obituary

Mr. Donald John Ogle, 64, of Rochester passed away at 11:49 AM, Thursday, November 6th, at Woodlawn Hospital shortly after admission. On March 3, 1950, Don was born in Fulton County the treasured son of John C. and Delores Mae Hundt Ogle. Growing up he shared his childhood with five sisters. With a lifelong passion for eighteen wheelers, Don's dad broke him in, taking him on the milk route at the age of twelve. From that he garnered a strong work ethic and a love for the open road. He aspired to be a truck driving professional, and some day owning his own trucking company. Over his lifetime Don hauled metal castings from the foundry to the warehouse, among the cargo he carried for over 21 years. In 2008 he started his own company D.J. Ogle Trucking which he recently sold, retiring in September of this year. On June 6, 1969 in Logansport, Don and Jean Ann Hauser were married the home of Rev. Raymond Skelton. Together they shared over 45 years of life's adventures. From their union came two wonderful children Kim & Kevin. The family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of two granddaughters. In the early years Don's Dad also introduced him to deer hunting in Michigan. Spring brought on the hunt for the tasty morels, bringing on more adventures and memories to be made. To kick back and relax Don enjoyed building bonfires, cook-outs and roasting hot dogs over the open fire with his family and special friends. With a fondness for all of the holidays, being a munch-a-holic, Don savored the food that accompanied each celebration. Each Halloween, Jean Ann cooked a simmering a pot of chili and roasted hotdogs inviting family to help celebrate. He also loved searching for the perfect treasure by antiquing, flea markets or of course the weekends brought on some of the finest garage sales. Don was the proud owner of a unique collection of Donald Duck memorabilia. He also collected Fenton Glass Chessie Jars. He treasured the times playing his favorite card game euchre with Kevin, Darci, Kenna and Jean. This Dad and Grandpa thoroughly enjoyed playing the trump card to ice the game. Left to cherish Don's memory are his loving wife Jean Ann; a daughter: Kimberly Ritter and husband Stephen; a son: Kevin Ogle and wife Darci all of Rochester; two granddaughters: LeeAnn Ogle of Silver Lake and Kenna Ogle of Rochester: five sisters, Carole L. Dale, of Rochester; Sandra K. Bahney and husband Dennis of Gaston; Doris Jean Jackson of Rochester; Gloria D'Amico and husband Donald of Scottsdale, AZ; Julie Lehman and husband Shane of Rochester; mother-in-law: Geraldine Hauser of Metea; brother-in-law: David Hauser and wife Faye and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Don in death are his parents. Chaplain Jason See will officiate services. Private family burial in the Mt. Zion cemetery will be held at a later date.
