, 1953, Dennis Omer Reichard was born. He was the treasured son of Clifford Calvin and Rebecca McManus Reichard. Growing up he shared his childhood with with his sister Nancy. As a Cavalier, Denny graduated from Culver Community High School in 1971.
On

, 1974, Denny married the love of his life, Miss Cynthia Kay Johnson at the Leiter's Ford United Methodist Church. They enjoyed over 44 years of life's adventures. From their union came a beautiful daughter, Ashley Marie. The family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of twin granddaughters.
Pursuing his dream of law enforcement, Officer Dennis O. Reichard inked a contract with the Rochester Police Department on
August 1974
. His beat was the night shift. The Indiana Law Enforcement Academy, in Plainfield opened in 1975 and Denny was a member of the first graduation class. Over the years the young police officer transitioned and was known as the savvy, super sleuth Detective Reichard. He led the RPD in many realms. Known for his marksmanship he was their firearms instructor. Det. Reichard was also the department's training officer and he authored their training manual.
A man of true valor and decorum, burly and braison, a guy who was very comfortable with who he was, Detective Denny signed off his shift serving the Rochester community with RPD retiring on
September 2010
. He was a member of the Fulton County Conservation Club and the Fraternal Order of the Police, serving both entities as their President.
In 1986 the Sand Burr Gun Ranch was established. It was here that Denny shared his passion and respect for guns, his skills of amazing marksmanship, vast knowledge of firearms and of course his world class gunsmithing. He was nationally known for his skills and accuracy with the Smith & Wesson, winning many competitions.
As an American sportsman, Denny was an avid hunter, teaching Ashley and Cindy the finer intricate points of the sport. They hunted deer, pheasant and quail. Denny also enjoyed fishing and could be seen on the banks of the family farm ponds with his casting rod in hand, fishing for bass, bluegill and crappie.
Left to cherish Denny's memory are his wife, Cindy; a daughter, Ashley M. Gibbons and husband Austin; twin granddaughters: Madeline Kay and Lillian Marie Gibbons; a sister, Nancy Reinholt and husband Dennis, all of Rochester; his treasured canine companion, "Red," the English Golden Retriever.
A celebration of the life of Dennis O. Reichard will be at a date to be announced. Burial will be in the Moon Cemetery. Preferred memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to Shop with a Cop P.O.
