Delberta "Dee" Dickie Harper 41 of Rochester passed away at Woodlawn Hospital shortly after admission on March 15, 2012. Dee was born on March 1, 1971 in Crown Point, New Mexico the precious daughter of Delbert D. and Lillie Dale Dickie. A native American and cherished member of the Navajo tribe, she was known to them as Glez-Bah meaning "Little Lady." Growing up she shared her childhood with three brothers: Elroy, Delbur and Del. As a young lady at age 13, Dee was an innovative entrepreneur, entering the workforce while bringing joy to others. Dressed as a clown, she attended children's birthday parties, singing and delivering balloon bouquets. She enjoyed baking cakes and had established a thriving business. With great pride in 1988, Dee graduated from Gallup High School, Gallup New Mexico. On October 21, 1995 Dee married her best friend and the love of her life, Donald L. Harper at the Fulton United Methodist Church. Later that day, in a evening ceremony, the two were officially married by employing Native American rituals and customs. Dee served as store manager for four years at Rochester's G.N.C. Store. Most recently she volunteered as a medical assistant at the Compassionate Health Care Center. Dee's dream was to become a registered nurse. A nursing student at Ivy Tech, she was three courses short from reaching her goal. A friend to animals, Dee had saved the lives of many kittens. As an avid sports fan she loved the Colts and cheered for her brothers at the demolition derby's they competed in. She once drove a demolition car herself. Dee loved swap meets and car shows, and she collected purses and shoes. Remembered as an extraordinary cook and baker, Dee loved making cupcakes for the kids. To relax she listened to music from the 80's; her favorites were White Snake and the music of Michael Jackson. Most important in her life was her loving family. Dee cherished the many good times they shared and especially treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren. Dee is lovingly remembered by her husband Don, at home; 4 daughters: Mellisha Rensberger & husband Alan, Ashlee Harper, Brittany Card & fiancé Jordan O'Neill, and Jon-Tae Harper, all of Rochester; 3 sons: Elijah Harper & wife Laci of Silver Lake, Patrick Card & fiancé Nickole Prince of Gladwin, MI, and Adriel Harper of Rochester; parents Delbert and Lillie Dickie Miller; 3 brothers: Elroy Dale of Wide Ruins, AZ, Delbur Dickie of Wabash, and Del D. Dickie of Rochester; father-in-law & mother-In -Law, Arthur & Betty Harper of Rochester; 9 grandchildren, and expecting a new grandson in June of 2012. She was preceded in death by her Grandma Louise Dale. Pastor Jim Dillinger will officiate services. Interment will be in the Rochester IOOF Cemetery.
