Mr. David Lee Holloway, 83, of Macy, passed away at 6:00 AM, Sunday, February 17 , 2019 in Homerville, Georgia.
On February 3 , 1936, David was born in Greentown. He was the treasured son of Edgar Earl and Monelle Bauer Holloway. David was a member of the Mississinewa Class of 1955. When patriotism beckoned, he served with the U.S. Air Force from 1953 - 1957.
In Marion, on August 20 , 1971 David married the love of his life, Jacquelyn "Jackie" Ann Rogers. They shared over 46 years of life's adventures and enjoyed a beautiful blended family of seven wonderful children. The family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of two more generations.
David was employed by Fisher Body in Marion until his retirement in 1992. His memberships include the UAW local, Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Elk's Lodge # 2120, and he was past president of the Phi Delta Kappa Fraternity. Following his retirement and gifted with his hands, he visited Bo's Marine, hired on and was certified to service and repair small engines. In addition he towed pontoons sometimes in tandem back to Bo.
In a house divided, David loved cheering for the Chicago Cubs while Jackie cheered for the Cincinnati Reds. He also enjoyed watching western movies with John Wayne, Gunsmoke, Bonanza and Andy Griffith. An avid golf enthusiast, David's favorite course was the Rochester Elks.
Paramount in his life was his family. Grandpa David was proud to oversee four generations. He loved spending time with his family, at the holidays and during special family celebrations. He enjoyed an annual golf outing with his grandson in southern Georgia. He and Grandma Jackie both enjoyed making memories with their family. A master woodworker, David spent many hours in his wood shop creating custom heirloom masterpieces for his family to treasure.
Left to cherish David's memory are his children: Diane Schaffer of Wausau, Wisconsin, David A. Holloway of Fishers, Roger McGriff and wife Cheryl of Marion, Melissa Hueston and husband Dan of Gas City, Virginia Ritter and husband Sam of Marion, Correna First and husband Bobby of Fairmount, Jesse McGriff and wife Susan of Kokomo; 23 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; a sister, Sandy Woodring of Gas City; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding David in death are his parents Earl Holloway and Monelle Fuja; beloved wife Jackie on June 24 , 2018; a son, Donald Holloway in 2014; grandson Timothy Michael McGriff; a granddaughter, Marissa Rose Whitehead; and two sisters, Sharon Housler and Nancy Scott.
A celebration of life service for Mr. David Lee Holloway will be at 4:00 PM on Monday, February 25 , 2019 in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18 th St., Rochester. Pastor Thad Stewart will officiate. Friends may visit with the family from 2-4 in the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted by the Fulton County Veteran's Honor Guard and the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Honors Team.
