Mr. David W. Goss, 76, of Rochester, passed away
Monday, February 13
, 2017 at St. Joseph Hospital of Plymouth.
On
August 25
, 1940, David was born in Plymouth. He was the treasured son of Howard and Ethel Slonaker Goss. Growing up he shared his childhood with a sister Joyce and a brother Bob. Following high school patriotism beckoned. Dave answered the call serving with the US Army. He spent much of his tour stationed in Germany.

David married
the love of his life, Gaylo Anne Jagger Benzing. Together they enjoyed over 32 years of life's adventures.
With a servants heart, Dave joined the Rochester Police Department in 1971 assigned as patrolman. He kept our city safe living the motto, "to serve and protect." From 1979 - 1990, Dave was appointed as Police Chief of the City of Rochester, till his retirement in 1991 following 20 dedicated years of service.
As an American sportsman, Dave loved fishing the Tippecanoe River. He hunted and trapped, enjoyed mushroom hunting each spring and horseback riding. At home he applied his craftsmanship in his woods shop making gliders, swings and barn quilts for family and special friends. Dave was a member of the Manitou VFW Post #1343.
Left to cherish David's memory are his wife, Gaylo; four children: Glenn Goss and wife Leslee , Brian Goss and wife Laura, Greg Benzing and wife Staci,
Angie Notz and husband Joe,
all of Rochester; eight grandchildren: Brooke Enyart, Damon Myers, Scott Benzing, Landon Notz, Gryphen Goss, AJ Notz, Graeme Goss, Gabriella Goss; a sister Joyce Baillieul of Bedford, Va; his mother-in-law Evelyn Jagger; two brothers-in-law: Larry Jagger and wife Faye and Mike Jagger.
Preceding David in death are his parents and a brother Robert Goss.
A graveside service for David W. Goss will be at 10:00 AM on
Wednesday, February 15
, 2017 at the Rochester IOOF Cemetery. Pastor Terry Baldwin will officiate. Military honors will be conducted by the Fulton County Veteran's Honor Guard and the US Army Honors Team. On

afternoon from noon to 3:00, Dave's family welcomes everyone to the Faith Outreach Center 1125 East 9th Street, Rochester to celebrate his life.
