David Allen Carr, 70, of Rochester passed away at 1:42 p.m. on Friday February 15, 2013 at the Rivercrest Specialty Hospital in Mishawaka. In Miami, Florida, on March 10, 1942, David Allen Carr was born. He was the treasured son of Walter and Florence Sweeting Carr. Growing up he shared his childhood with a sister Brenda, and two brothers, Walter and Ronnie. In 1960, with great pride, he graduated from Southwest Miami High School. Following high school, David enlisted with the United States Navy to serve our country. To relax David enjoyed fishing and playing cards, especially euchre. A nature lover, he fed the backyard birds and enjoyed bird watching in their natural habitat. David is lovingly remembered by a daughter, Andrea Shufelt, Rochester; 3 sons: Perry Gentry of Rochester, Vince Klock of Tennessee, Harley Klock of Lakeland, FL; several grandchildren including locally, Alyssa Mechelle Shufelt, Allyson Rene Shufelt and Mark Ray Shufelt; a sister Brenda Carr of Miami, FL; and a brother Walter Carr of Tampa, FL. Numerous aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. Preceding him in death are his parents, a daughter Cheryl Gentry and a brother Ronnie Carr. Chaplain Jason See will officiate services. Military rites will be accorded by the Fulton County Military Honor Guard and the US Navy Honors Team.
