David Owen Cannedy, 54, was surrounded by his loving family when he passed on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at IU-Methodist in Merrillville.

He was the treasured son of Earl "Gene" Sr. and Donna Werkheiser Cannedy. In 1990 David graduated from Illiana Christian High School, in Lansing, IL. To further his studies, he graduated in 2005 with a Bachelors of Science degree in biology from Purdue-Calumet.

An avid Star Wars fan, David was the proud owner of unique memorabilia. He enjoyed drawing and painting as a hobby. David also collected and watched movies from many genres.

David is lovingly remembered by his mother Donna Cannedy of Rochester; his siblings: Matthew Cannedy of New Lenox, IL Patricia Standerski of Portage, Earl (Pia) Cannedy Jr. of Rochester, Barbara (Tom) Rymarczyk of Winchester, TN, Pamela Byrd of Punta Gorda, FL, ; and his children, Brittney and Shawn. Several aunts, uncles, nieces , nephews and cousins also survive.

Preceding David in death is his father Earl "Gene" Cannedy Sr. on January 11, 2017.

A celebration of the life of David Owen Cannedy will be at 1:00 PM EDT on Saturday, August 29th, 2026, in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18th Street, Rochester, Indiana. His family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of the service.
