Obituary

Mr. Daryl A. Powell, 61, of Rochester was surrounded by his loving family when he passed away at 1:15 PM on Friday, March 23 , 2018 at his home.  This followed a valiant and courageous battle with cancer.
On December 5 , 1956, Daryl was born  to Claude and Beverly Rutledge Powell. Following high school, Daryl enlisted with the Army- National Guard.   He served our country for 14 years.  Earlier this month he was honored by the Fulton County Veterans for his service.
In Rochester, Daryl married the love of his life and best friend Deborah E. Rudd, on May 31 , 1980. They have shared 37 years of life's adventures.  From their union came three wonderful children Brandi, Ashley and Chris.  The family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of eight grandchildren.
A truck driving professional, Daryl enjoyed over the road travel, sometimes with Debbie and the kids joining him.  He was proud to have visited all 48  states during his career.  He drove for  several companies including Dean's and Glen-Di Inc.  Most recently, until his declining health was employed by Paperwork's Industries Wabash Mill.   He was a trailer spotter at the mill.   This close knit company provided a family atmosphere.  Daryl felt like his colleagues and management were like a second family, with the close friendships he garnered.
An American sportsman, Daryl looked forward to the opening of deer hunting season.  An avid  NASCAR racing fan,  # 3, Dale Earnhart was his favorite driver.  Grandpa Daryl enjoyed  his grandchildren.  He and Debbie faithfully attended baseball games, soccer matches and school concerts and programs, always there for them, cheering them on.  Paramount in his life was his family.  There was nothing better than getting together for the holidays and special celebrations spending time together making memories.
Left to cherish Daryl's memory are his wife, Debbie;  two daughters: Brandi Armstrong and husband Bruce, and  Ashley Furnivall and husband Jeff; a son, Chris Powell and companion Jackie Manns-Peters, all of Rochester;   eight grandchildren:  Gabriel Armstrong, Garrett Armstrong, Gessa Armstrong, Braydn Furnivall, Camdyn Furnivall, Landyn Furnivall, Olivia Powell, Teagan Powell;  three sisters: Deborah Stewart of Findlay, Ohio, Cindy Powell,  and Pam Fackler; 2 brothers: Claude Powell Jr., and Ray Powell; his step-mother, Mary Powell all of Van Wert, Ohio; also his brother and sister-in-laws: Marcella Boyd and husband Keith, Karen Clark, Kathy Moore and husband Ron, David Rudd and wife Linda, Bernard Rudd and wife Katie; as well as  several nieces, nephews and cousins who also survive.
Preceding Daryl in death are his parents and a brother, Kevin Powell on May 16 , 2003,  his  father and  mother-in-law: Hurndon and Finettie Rudd, brother-in-laws: Bob Rudd and Jack Rudd and his treasured canine companion Kallie, the Welsh-Pembroke Corgi in 2014.
