Mrs. Darlene M. Ogle, 81, of Rochester passed away 3:52 AM on Sunday, September 5 , 2021 at Woodlawn Hospital.
On December 15 , 1939, Darlene Marie Whiting was born in Starke County. She was a treasured daughter of Earl Rollin and Mary Ruschau Whiting. Growing up with seven siblings, she shared her childhood with four sisters and three brothers.
In Fulton County, Darlene married the love of her life, Mr. Richard Lowell Ogle on October 19 , 1957. They have shared nearly 64 years of life's adventures. Their union produced five wonderful children with the blessings of two more generations added to the family tree.
As the matriarch of the Ogle family, Darlene was the family caregiver, always there to help everyone. With a generous and kind heart Darlene shared her culinary talents making an abundance of homemade delicacies to share during family celebrations and at the holidays. She treasured making memories with the grandchildren. Spoiling her canine kids Sheba and Bernie was another attribute. Each morning she prepared them delicious toast and eggs for breakfast. Later in the day they were treated with peanut butter cookies.
With a green thumb, Darlene's flower beds and backdoor vases added beauty and color to the landscape. She annually selected a special area of her yard to focus on, sometimes planting a new tree. She was known for her uncanny ability to recall memories from yester year when no one else could. Darlene was an amazing storyteller sharing vivid imagery and great detail. She was proud of her collection of vinyl records under the old country genre. She especially loved the music of Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn and Hank Williams Jr.
Left to cherish Darlene's memory are her husband Richard; two daughters: Linda Rosendaul and husband Steve of Shipshewana, Donna Ogle of Logansport; three sons: Rick Ogle and wife Mary of Roann, Randy Ogle of Rochester, Clifford Ogle of Akron; nine grandchildren: Joshua Ogle, Aaron Ogle, Jason Ogle, Kaleigh O'Brien, Laura Read, Bradley Rosendaul, Lacey Ogle, Cody Ogle, Bryce Ogle; eight great-grandchildren; four sisters: Eleanor Roscka and husband Dan of Knox, Betty Larva of Knox, Patricia Zobrist of Knox, Carole Mahler and husband Mel of Plymouth; a brother, Howard Whiting of Michigan City; canine companions: Bernie, a Pointer, and Sheba, a Black Lab; and several nieces and nephews.
