Christine Gail Childers, 67, of Belmont, MI, was surrounded by her loving family when she passed away at 11:43 a.m. Sunday, October 20 at the home of her brother Dr. Dan Quinlan. Born in Sandusky, Michigan on April 4, 1946, Christine Gail Quinlan was the precious daughter of William John and Gertrude Koster Quinlan. As one of five children, growing up she shared her childhood with a sister Cynthia and 3 brothers: Dan, Timothy and Richard. On March 25, 1968 in Grand Rapids, MI, Marion Sherman Childers and Christine were married. They shared 41 years of life's adventures and together they raised two sons and seven step-children. The family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren. During the early years with Sherman, they enjoyed the freedom of catching the warm summer breezes on their maroon Goldwing. Many times they took day trips around Michigan, but once had a memorable visit to the Outer Banks. Camping out under the starlit skies allowed for many treasured memories. A talented seamstress with a passion for crafts, Christine founded C.C. Handcrafts. She created unique gifts that she showcased at craft fairs around central and southern Michigan. Christine also enjoyed bingo and garage sales in quest of locating the bargain of the day. During her leisure time she loved fishing with Sherm and spending time with her grandchildren. She was the proud owner of a unique collection of elephants. The last several winters were spent in the warmth of the sunshine on the beaches near Bradenton, Florida. Left to cherish Christine's memory are 2 sons: William "Billy" Childers and wife Erin and their children Nathan, Nikolis, Mason, Lance and Kaitlyn, of Ada, MI; Christopher Lee Childers and wife Christina and their sons Colton and Caleb of Belmont, MI; 7 step-children: Steve Childers and wife Pamela and their son Lance, Marion Black, Wynn Childers, Bruce Childers, Rodney Childers, Wynona Phillips, Wyman Childers; 3 brothers: Dr. Dynamite Dan Quinlan DVM and wife Kathy of Rochester, Timothy Quinlan of Morely, MI, Richard Quinlan of Comstock Park, MI; and numerous nieces and nephews who also survive.
