Christina Kay Grossnickle Christi was born on December 1, 1950 in Wabash, to Richard and Ruth Long. A 1973 graduate of Indiana State University in elementary education she began her long teaching career in 1st and 2nd grades near Attica, IN. Christi taught in North Carolina for 9 years and earned a Master's Degree at Appalachian State University. She retired from the Rochester Community School Corporation, in 2011. She dedicated her working life to the achievement of children. She earned the respect of students, parents, fellow educators and administrators. Christi married Dennis Grossnickle in 1971 at Grace Lutheran Church in Muncie. A lifelong Lutheran, Christi was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church, where she served as a trustee, on the alter guild, Luther Anns, and taught Sunday school. She volunteered at the Cross Church food pantry and Second Blessings. Christi enjoyed the classes at the Wellness Center as well as running, biking, hiking and recently golfing. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking and traveling. She had so much more to give back to this community, that she loved, had her life had not been cut short. In addition to her husband, survivors include a son, Clint Grossnickle and companion Jessy Van Camp, London, England and a daughter, Jessica Grossnickle and companion Marcos Flores, Chicago, Illinois; a sister, Linda (Fred) Hamilton, Muncie and a brother, Maurice (Katie) Long, Wabash. The Rev. Mel Meyer will officiate services.
