Obituary

Chris Stokes, 46, of Rochester passed away at 2:40 PM on Friday, October 1 , 2021 at Auburn Village of Auburn after a long illness. On April 8 , 1975, Christopher James was born in Marion, Indiana    to William Joseph and Karen Sue Smith Stokes. Chris was a 1994 Grad of Rochester High School. He went on to get several computer certifications after high school.

Chris married Pamela Jane Ezzell June 24 , 2000 in the Grace United Methodist Church of Rochester. Chris was father to Pam's daughter, Angela.  They shared six years together, sadly she passed away on November 8 , 2006.

Chris met Rhonda Hall in 2011. Chris took on the father role for Kyle (Johnson) over the last 10 years. He enjoyed spending time with Rhonda and Kyle . They enjoyed trips together to Florida, South Carolina, Ohio and their most recent trip in 2018 along with his mom Sue. They spent 2 weeks out west and was able to visit the Airforce base in Arizona where his father was stationed. Chris talked about retiring to Sedona Arizona.

Chris was loved by everyone who knew him. He created a work family for many years at the Rochester Boat Company. He was an avid fan of trains, collecting, riding, tracing Rochester's railroad history. He loved computers and was the one friends and family called in an IT emergency. He was a fan of cars and was in the process of restoring a 65 LeMans. His garage was the hang out for friends and family. If anyone needed help finding a car part they called "Autozone Chris" aka "Stokes."

Left to cherish the memories of Chris are his "wife",  Rhonda Hall and her son Kyle Johnson of Rochester; mother Karen Stokes of Anderson; two brothers" Stephen Stokes of Indianapolis, Richard Stokes and wife Tracy of Anderson; nieces and nephews: Jennifer Boyer, Shelby Stokes, Philip Stokes, Garrett Dunaway, Zachary Stokes, Owen Stokes, Brittany Woods; several great nieces and nephews; and aunts Sue Ellen Stokes and Leann (Greg) Linsmeyer.

Preceding Chris in death are his father, William Stokes on July 4 , 2008, wife, Pamela Stokes and grandparents, Roseanne and Art Stokes, George and Mary Smith.

A celebration of the life of Christopher J. Stokes will be at Good Family Funeral Home with visitation from 9-11 and service at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 16 , 2021 conducted by Dr. Mark Spencer.

Interment will be in the Elwood Cemetery with service at 2pm on October 16th . Memorials can be made in Chris's name to the Fulton County Animal Adoption Center. Chris loved animals and wanted to adopt every cat they had at the center. He would post from their website and encourage people to adopt animals, especially cats. He lost his precious Maggie of 21 years earlier this year.
