Mrs.  Chloris J. Cheesman, 96 years 2 months and 1 day,  departed this life at 2:43 AM, Tuesday, January 16 , 2018 at Life Care Center.

On November 15 , 1921, Chloris J. Gochenour was born Rossville.  She was the treasured daughter of Herbert W. and Juanita M. Turley Gochenour.  Growing up she shared her childhood with a brother, Bill.  With great Bulldog pride she graduated from Tippecanoe County's Dayton High School in 1939.

In Lafayette , high school sweethearts Chloris and G. Wesley Cheesman were married on June 10 , 1939. They shared 42 years of life's adventures.  From their union came five wonderful children: Shari, Nita, Judy, Jim and Larry.  The family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of three more generations.

Chloris developed a strong work ethic  during the depression years as a pre-teen.   She was dedicated to Hart-Shaffner-Marx as a talented seamstress for 34 years retiring in 1996.   Gifted with her hands, she made custom wedding dresses, prom attire and clothing for her children.  Grandma Chloris quilted, crocheted or knitted gifts of warmth for the members of her beautiful family tree.

An avid bowler, Chloris enjoyed ladies and mixed leagues, sporting a 140 average.  She  competed annually at state and national tournaments.  At the card table, she played spirited games of euchre.  She was a member of the Red Hatters, Leroy Shelton American Legion Post # 36 Women's Auxillary, the Eagles and Moose Lodges.

Chloris is lovingly remembered by two daughters, Shari Puckett Whitacre and husband John of Bandera, TX; Nita Baker and husband Ron of Rochester;  two sons: James "Jim" Cheesman and wife Sharon of Rochester, and Larry Cheesman of Rochester; 14 grandchildren,  28  great- grandchildren;  22 great-great-grandchildren; numerous step-grandchildren; and step-great-grandchildren.   Preceding Chloris in death are her parents; beloved husband, Wesley on October 10 , 1981; daughter Judy Green in 2002; and brother Bill Gochenour.

The Leroy Shelton American Legion Post Auxiliary # 36 will conduct a memorial service prior to her celebration.

Rev. Kerry O'Brien will officiate services. Interment will be in the Rochester IOOF.
