Mr. Charles "Charlie" W. Fruitt, 61, of Rochester, passed away Monday, April 25 , 2016 at his residence.

On October 4 , 1954, Charles was born in Summitville, IN.

Charlie and Paula K. Gunnels Fruitt were married on July 24 , 1992 in the Riverview Community Church.   They shared nearly 24 years of life's blessings.

As an independent contractor and a professional truck driver, Charlie traveled the open road many miles around America's Heartland each week.  At home, Charlie enjoyed woodworking and planting the garden.  Fall brought on the harvest and together he and Paula would can and freeze their produce for winters use.

As an American sportsman, Charlie loved hunting rabbit, squirrel and deer.  Late spring brought on mushroom hunting, he enjoyed great success,  returning home with a bountiful mess of juicy  morels.  Fishing was another way he relaxed.  Charlie  enjoyed the serenity of Chapman Lake.  It was here that he landed the catch of the day with hi trusty casting rod.

Charlie is lovingly remembered by his wife Paula; two daughters: Tuvara Meeks and husband Curtis of Elkhart, Nancy Fruitt of Warsaw; a son, James W. Gunnels and wife Kayla of Bourbon; his father, Jack Owens Sr. of Albany; six grandchildren: Amy Meeks, Hunter Meeks, Racheal Fruitt, Brayden Gunnels "Papaw's little fishn' buddy", Taylor Gunnels, Maycie Gunnels; a sister, Melissa Owens and companion Scott Baker of Eaton, IN; a brother, Jack Owens Jr. and wife Peggy of MD; a canine companion, Tilly a brown -black Yorkshire Terrier; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Charlie in death are his mother, grandparents, and three Yorkies: Sophie, Tucker and Tank.

Pastor Rod Ruberg will officiate services.
