Mr. Charles E. Burns passed away unexpectedly on February 26. 2025 at the Halifax Hospital, Port Orange, Florida.

On October 18, 1954, Charles Edward Burns was born in Peru.  He was the son of Charles Arthur and Marjorie Gill Burns.  Growing up he shared his childhood with four sisters. A gifted athlete with fleet feet, Charlie ran track for the Caston Comets. A great sprinter, he not only held the school record, but the IHSAA record for the 100-yard dash!  Charlie was a member of the CHS class of 1974.

Following a career in sales, Charlie was sales representative for his family's business, Burn's Construction.  He enjoyed going to the Beach House Church at Daytona Beach Shores, Florida.  To relax he enjoyed daily walks on the beach and watching the sunset after a beautiful day spent with friends.  Charlie's love for cars was passed down by his father.  He once owned a black & orange Camero and several Corvettes over his lifetime.  He loved going to car shows and the Chevy Camero and Corvette, the muscle cars were among his favorites.

Charlie often spoke of his beautiful daughter Melanie as his greatest accomplishment.  Visits from the grandchildren and heading to the beach for the day, the holidays and special family celebrations were times Charlie enjoyed, making many good memories.

Charlie's survivors include his daughter Melanie (Jeff) Grossman of New Haven; his mother Marjorie Burns of Daytona Beach; 3 grandchildren: Brooke Helton (Garrett Foust), Paige (Mark) Mueller, Peyton Helton; Melanie's mother Willa Bea Shriver; four sisters: Charlene (Terry) Harrison of Rochester, Vickey Heckert of Virginia Beach, VA, Valerie (Marc) Hamman of Rochester, Annie Green (Seth Greenstein) of Port Orange, FL; and many nieces and nephews also survive.

Preceding Charlie in death was his father Charles A. Burns in 2016.

A celebration of the life of Mr. Charles "Charlie" Burns will be held at 3:00 PM, Tuesday, May 13, 2025, in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18th Street, Rochester.  Friends may visit with his family from 2:00 until the time of the service.   He will rest eternally at the Mud Lake Chapel Cemetery.
