Obituary

Mrs. Carolyn Abrams  81 of Rochester was surrounded by her loving family when she passed away on May 17 , 2018 at her home.

Born in  Rochester, Carolyn Lee Smith was a treasured daughter of George and Helen Pickens Smith.  Growing up as the second youngest of four children, Carolyn shared her childhood with two sisters and a brother.
In 1968, Carolyn met Ivan "Buddy" Abrams shortly after his local arrival from Kentucky.  He became the love of her life who later became her best friend and husband.  At the 1st Presbyterian Church on November 25 , 1971, Ivan and Carolyn were united in marriage.  They enjoyed more than 44 years of life's adventures.
In earlier years Carolyn and Buddy enjoyed camping with their family.   There were many memories made at Plymouth's Yogi Bear Jellystone Park, along with occasional visits to Luken's Lake.  While camping everyone had fun cruising around on the golf cart and sitting around the campfire telling stories.
A devoted member of Weight-Watchers, Carolyn looked forward to winning the weigh-in.  She also made many friends at yard  sales, searching for  special treasures.  Carolyn was the proud owner of a fine collection of unique yard ornaments.  Many were displayed to enhance the landscape of her home.
Gifted with her hands, Carolyn created  a variety of handiwork from needle-point, cross-stitch to crocheting and quilting.  Her loving family are the proud owners of Mom and Grandma's gifts of warmth.  Grandma Carolyn was the proud matriarch, overseeing 5 generations of her vast and beautiful family tree, her most cherished legacy.   The holidays and special family celebrations were great times for making memories.
Carolyn will be missed by all, but her family all know where she is now.  She is happy and joyful after being reunited with family and friends who have gone before.  Rest in peace until we meet again.
Left to cherish Carolyn's memory are three daughters: Chris Sutton and husband Randy, Lee Ann Fisher and husband John, Rhonda Abbott and husband Todd, all of Rochester;  four sons: Joe Manns of Athens, Jack Hedrick, Jim Hedrick and companion Dawn, John Hedrick and wife Iva, all of Rochester; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Larry Dean Smith and wife Carol of Rochester; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding Carolyn in death are her beloved husband "Buddy" February 7 , 2016; her parents George and Helen Smith;  two sisters: Anna Ruth Taylor, Irene Miller; and a granddaughter, Breanna Lynn Abbott, on January 13 , 2018.

A celebration of the life of Mrs. Carolyn Lee Abrams will be Monday, 12:00 p.m. May 21 , 2018 in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18th Street, Rochester.  Chaplain Jason See will officiate.  Friends may visit with his family from 10:00 - noon. Burial will follow in the Citizen's Cemetery.
