Carol Jean Lewis, 76, of Kings Lake, Rochester, passed away at 6:56 PM,
Tuesday, May 2
, 2017 at her residence.
On
December 23
, 1940, Carol Jean Johnson was born in Shawnee, IL. She was the cherished daughter of Arvid and Ebba Johnson.
Following her graduation from high school, Carol pursued her dream of becoming a nurse. She was a student nurse at the Swedish Covenant Nursing School where she graduated with the distinction of registered nurse. Carol began her career at the Cook County Hospital in Chicago. She initially worked in the neo-natal unit, then later became director of nursing.
In about 1982, the Lewis family moved to Kings Lake, building a beautiful home filled with love. Nurse Carol then began working at Pulaski County Hospital where she worked in the Intensive Care Unit till she retired after 48 years in the nursing profession.

, 1977, Carol and Thomas V. Lewis III were united in marriage. Together they enjoyed 27 years of life's adventures. Sadly Thomas passed away on
November 25
, 2003.
Carol is survived by a daughter, Anita Lewis, of Rochester; and two grandchildren: Mya Lewis and Dyllan Yeargin.
Preceding Carol in death are her parents and beloved husband, Thomas.
