Mr. Carl "Carly" Richard, 55, of Rochester, passed away Saturday, April 9 , 2016.

On May 21 , 1960, Carl Andrew Richard was born in Rochester.  He was a treasured son of Joseph Jacob and   Ellen Reinholt Richard.   Growing up as a twin with brother Charly, he shared his childhood with four sisters and six other brothers.   Carly was a proud member of the Rochester High School class of 1979.

As a young man, Carly developed a strong work ethic,  on the family dairy farm.  His love for agriculture and dedication for the dairy herd was a life-long passion.  He later developed an interest in concrete work.  As a concrete artist, he would create custom decorative  designs for his customers.  His ability to finish flatwork was flawless and unparalleled.  Carly was the Best of the best!

To relax Carly loved to cut wood.  Accomplished with great skill to cut with his chain saw, he spent a great deal of time cutting and stacking for winters use.  With a great sense of humor he loved to tell jokes.  Pink Floyd and AC/DC were his favorite vocal groups.  Always at his side was "Sis," his chocolate lab.

Carly is survived by his wife Charla; five daughters: Jacqueline R. Richard-Wood and husband Billy of Liberty, MS, Callie Richard, Chloe Richard, Clover Richard, Carli Rae Richard;   a son, John Jacob "Jake" Richard; a step-son, Quentin Nichols, all of Rochester; five grandchildren: Shane Alan Woods, Brooke Renane Woods, Megan Grace Woods, Avery Nicole Woods, Jaden Marie; Eleven siblings: Frank Keitzer and companion Yvonne Foster of Rochester, Mary Rockenbaugh and husband Jim of Peru, Ted Richard and wife Linda of Rochester,   Rita Jenkins and husband Jim of Rochester, Hugh Richard and wife Vicky of Rochester, twin Charly Richard and wife Tammy of Rochester; Joe Richard of Rochester, Mark Richard and wife Christy of Holiday, FL, Ruth Gunter and husband Dwight of Rochester, Ed Richard and wife Amy of Rochester, Jane Richard and companion Kyle VanMeter of Rochester; his cherished canine companion Sis, a chocolate lab; and 29 nieces and nephews.

Preceding Carly in death are his parents; an infant brother, James Richard; a sister-in-law, Carla Richard; and a niece, Tracy Lee Ann Richard.

Pastor Terry Baldwin will officiate services. Interment will be in the Richland Center Cemetery.
