Mr. Billy Dean Tyler, 81, of Rochester, was surrounded by his loving family when he passed away at 9:15 PM, Tuesday, November 29th, 2011 at home. Billy was born in Fulton County, on July 20, 1930, to Francis M. and Naomi R. Pickens Tyler. As one of ten children he shared his childhood with four brothers: Paul, Jimmie, Bud, and Ralph, and five sisters: Elnora, Clymenia, Judy, Mona and Jean. On July 15, 1950, Billy married his best friend and the love of his life, Donnizetti "Donna" M. Perdue, in Rochester. Their union spanned over 61 wonderful years and produced four handsome sons: Denny, Mark, Michael and Doug. The family tree flourished with the additions of 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Billy worked at Magnetic Shield. Later Rick Vance bought the business and it became known as Ad-Vance Magnetics. At Ad-Vance he served as plant manager, retiring in 1995 following over 24 years of dedicated service. He was a member of the Moose Lodge Family Center, and Fraternal Order of the Eagles, where he achieved the appointment of the Golden Eagle, the Elk's Club where he ascended to the golden Elk plateau, and the American Legion. With a love for music Billy teamed with his cousin by marriage, Sonny Perdue as a member of the band "Sonny and the Rocketeers". He is best remembered for his remarkable abilities with the bass fiddle and bass guitar. Their initial gig opened at Bunker Hill Airbase. Billy was a gifted, self taught musician who learned to play both instruments by ear. They later reorganized to the group named the "Top Hats." This band was noted for their lively music of the big band era. In the early years Billy relaxed by playing pool. After learning the basics of golf in the pasture, he turned it on to make it a lifetime sport to enjoy with family and friends. He hit the links locally, but looked forward to getting together with the guys for the annual pilgrimage to scenic Lake Park, Georgia each February to enjoy the challenges of the southern golf courses. Billy is lovingly remembered by his wife Donna, at home, 4 sons: Denny Tyler & wife Deb of Rochester, Mark Tyler & wife Debbie of Rochester, Michael Tyler & wife Karen of Akron, Doug Tyler & wife Melody of Fort Wayne; 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchhildren, 3 sisters: Elnora Sayger & husband Jack, Clymenia Halterman & husband Willis, Judy Kuhn & husband Charles; 2 brothers: Paul Tyler & wife Sandy, and Jimmie Tyler & companion Betty, all of Rochester. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter Lori Tyler, 2 sisters, Jean Gundrum and Mona Snook, 2 brothers, Melvin "Bud" Tyler and Ralph Tyler.
