Obituary

Mr. Billy Joseph Tajkowski, 73, of Rochester, IN, passed away at 7:58 PM, Sunday, March 16th, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center of Mishawaka. On January 26, 1941, Billy was born in South Bend, a treasured son of Frank Thomas and Clara Tajkowski. Growing up as one of six, he shared his childhood with 4 sisters: Tina, Darlene, Betty Jane and Patricia, and a brother Frank. As a youngster he attended the St. Casmir's Parish in South Bend. In Osceola on May 29, 1976, Billy and Cheryl Ann Estes were united in marriage. Their union of over 37 years allowed them many blessings to create special memories. Many memories included their two daughters and special nieces and nephews. Billy always made time for his family, especially on the weekends. With a strong work ethic, Billy worked as a welder for more than 24 years at Allied Stamping Products in South Bend. An avid fisherman, he enjoyed fly-fishing around various lakes of North Central Indiana. Always working with his hands, Billy enjoyed the annual planting of the garden and overseeing the bountiful harvest. For many years he enjoyed woodworking for his shop in the garage. Always at his side were his devoted red cocker spaniels Sadie and Wendy. Left to cherish Billy's memory are his loving wife Cheryl; 2 daughters: Melanie La Londe of Kokomo and Anna Young; 3 special nieces and nephews: Justin Estes, Brittany Voorhees, Cynthia Morford; 9 great nieces and nephews; 3 sisters: Kathleen "Tina" Tajkowski of South Bend, Darleen Gordon of South Bend, Betty Jane Ames and husband Rick of Elkhart; a brother Frank Thomas Tajkowski and wife Bev of Osceola; several nieces and nephews in South Bend; and his cherished canine companions Sadie and Wendy. Preceding Billy in death are his parents and a sister Patricia Dunn. Josephine Price will officiate services.
